IRCHA Jamboree 2010

Model Airplane News contributor Paul Tradelius (also our “Rotor Speed” columnist!) is at this year’s IRCHA Jamboree and loving every minute of it! He ran into Curtis Youngblood and his protege Nick Maxwell, who placed first and second, respectively, in this year’s Helicopter Nats.
Paul notes: “Today marked the 19th time Curtis Youngblood won the helicopter portion of the Nats. Seen here with second place winner Nick Maxwell, both were flying the new Rave ENV (Electic Nitro Varients) in the electric flybar version. The Rave ENV is a completely new design from Curtis Youngblood Enterprises, and has already proved itself to be a top performer. We hope to give you more information, and a complete review, of this new helicopter in the near future.”

Check out the modified rotor head on Curtis Youngblood’s new Rave ENV (first photo in the slideshow). It has flybar weights added to the leading edge of the blade grips to stabilize the rotor disk in windy conditions.
