Roy Vaillancourt’s 1/4- and 1/5-scale L-19 Bird Dogs have already proven to be popular scale builds, and now this warbird is available in an even bigger scale! This 147-inch-span model is designed to be powered by a 75 to 150cc engine and weigh 40 to 60 pounds.
Here’s the press release from Vailly Aviation:
By popular demand we have enlarged our famous L-19 to 1/3 scale.
Wing span: 147 inches Weight: 40 – 60 lbs
OAL: 97 in Engine: 75 – 150 cc
Plans: $ 75.00, Cowl: $ 156.00
Landing gear: $ 68.00
We already have the L-19 offered in 1/5 and 1/4 scale and now we have it in 1/3 scale!
We have digitally enlarged our very successful 1/4 scale drawings by 34% and have
transferred them to 6 large sheets. Same easy construction, just bigger! All sheets are 34
inches wide and range from 10 to 14 feet in length. The plans show all structures drawn full
size and include the installation of flaps. Full size templates are also shown for all ribs,
formers and other various parts.
Primary construction is light plywood, balsa and spruce using conventional “tried and
true” building techniques. All structures are built-up and are sheeted with 1/8 or 3/32 inch
balsa. Accessory parts available are: a fiberglass cowl, formed aluminum landing gear.
The model features a two piece wing for easy transportation, yet still provides easy
assembly/disassembly at the field. A five channel radio is required.
