Piro Flip

One of the maneuvers I love to see performed is the piro-flip. Those of you who know how to do this make it look so easy and effortless, but I have been trying this maneuver on and off for the past several years without much improvement. The technique I’m working on is to master the maneuver in four separate steps. First I do a backwards flip to the inverted position followed by a 180° piro to the left, then a pushover to the upright position followed by another 180° piro to the left. If I do it right this brings me back to my original starting position. But it doesn’t look right or feel right so I know I’m doing something wrong. So what is a better way to start this maneuver? What are the common mistakes you made as you learned the maneuver? What are the key points of the helicopter you look at, and what corrections do you make if the maneuver is not going right? I can come up with a lot more questions, but I think you get the idea of what I’m looking for. Any techniques you can give to help me progress would be greatly appreciated, and I’m sure it will be of interest to others as well.
