I know this is a helicopter section, but I thought I would share with you a very pleasant experience I had this past weekend while visiting my son in San Francisco. We spent the weekend at the Thunder Hill racetrack, which is a couple hours north of the city, and I got a chance to take his turbo Porsche Carrera on the track. I spent three half-hour sessions on the track with an instructor to get checked out, and then was allowed to go solo. As you can imagine, this is a completely new experience for me to take a high-performance car on the racetrack and see how well I can do. My first priority was not to damage any one else’s car, with my second priority being not to damage my son’s car. I’m proud to say I met both priorities, although my track time was so slow they want their t-shirt back. But I had a great weekend.
