Horizon Air Meet: Up close with Matt Chapman

Sep 12, 2012 4 Comments by

The first ever Horizon Air Meet was held last weekend at the Sanford, Maine regional airport and in addition to nonstop RC jet and heli flying and an off-road RC car race, spectators were treated to a spectacular noontime air show featuring professional airshow pilot Matt Chapman! Matt took some time out before the show to tell us about his Eagle 580 aerobat and share what it’s like to be at the controls of a full-size show plane. Be sure to check out the rest of the Air Meet coverage here.

I was at this show and I must say that Matt is really something to see!! It was really to bad that the formation show did not take place because of the weather.

  3. Randy Davis says:

I met Matt a few years back at an air show in Daytone Beach. He was standing by his plane and I asked him if he was going to Joe Nall this year. He came right over and we talked for about 10 minutes. He’s a terrific guy and a great aerobatics pilot.

What a great show Matt put on for us here in Maine, both his solo flight and the tandem flight with Quique Somenzini and his model. It was a privilege to see that “first” in aerobatic flying.
