Triplane Test Flight Up-Close

Triplane Test Flight Up-Close

So the big thing we learned is that we really need a low “tick over” idle to get the triplane to stick after touchdown. On the first landing, I had the idle a smidge too high and after a little roll out, it became airborne again and then did the “Fokker Dance” wingtip to wingtip. No damage though. Over the entire weekend, I flew 8 successful flights each one ending in better and better landings.

In the Air, the Triplane is a pure pleasure to fly. Stable in the wind and very easy to maneuver. After 500 hours in the workshop, and 10 months of late night building secessions, I think the plane is well worth the effort.
