Drone Search & Rescue

Multi rotors aren’t just useful for spy missions and getting great photography. In this emergency drill, the Roswell Flight Test Crew works with the local fire department in Eugene, Oregon to help save lives. Their mission is to assist firefighters in conducting a Hasty River search in a training scenario: a man floating down the river becomes separated from his inner tube and struggles to swim to a nearby island. The question is whether a small unmanned aircraft system like RQCX-3 Raven equipped with a FLIR thermal imaging camera can locate the victim more quickly than the conventional bank search technique. Watch it and see!
