Top Gun Video Interview — Fernando Bellegrade — Stuka Dive Bomber

May 15, 2014 4 Comments by

There’s just something about the Junkers Ju 87 Stuka Dive Bomber! This bent-wing Luftwaffe Warbird was one of the very first “Tank Busters” and it was a major part of Hitler’s Blitzkrieg war strategy. Competing in Expert, Fernando Bellegrade traveled all the way from Sao Paulo, Brazil with his impressive Stuka. Built from Nick Ziroli plans, the dive bomber is 1/5-scale and has a 100 inch span. Power comes from a DE 55cc has engine and the model weighs 29 pounds. MAN’s Debra Cleghorn, gets the back story.

Thanks for the video too, it was good to have the comments from the builder with Debra. fantastic plane.. amazing detail ..

  2. Ross Tinney says:

Keep wondering why two-bladed props are installed on a scale modeled plane when original planes have a three or four bladed props.

    • Gerry says:

Ross. after static judging, where the model has the scale (size and type) propeller attached, for the flight portion of the event, it is switched for a flying prop, that best suits the engine and flight envelop of the model. Some big engine RC models can swing a scale propeller, but most can not.

GREAT RENDITION OF THE WINTER PAINT SCHEME ,I WOULD ENCOURAGE HIM TO GET SOME GOOD THREE VIEWS FOR THE WHEEL PANTS,THEY ARE TO SHORT AND TO WIDE.
I AM NOT SURE THERE WAS EVER ANY 3 VIEW SHOWING THESE PANTS FOR JUDGING.
