RCX Takes Flight in Orange County

It was yet another blockbuster for RCX, the Ultimate Radio Control Expo, as thousands descended upon the OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA, on May 17-18. It was two perfect days of nonstop action as RC fans packed the sidelines of tracks and flyzones. The weekend was filled with adrenaline-pumping excitement, competitions, demos, celebrities, full-size vehicles and awesome scale models. Highlights included:

> Indoor and outdoor fly zones that wowed the crowds

> Special appearance by Traxxas Pro Lite racer Sheldon Creed and Horizon Hobby/Rockstar Energy Supercross racer Davi Millsaps

> New drones hovering everywhere, including all-new models from KDS and Yuneec

> Hot Wheels Speedway entertained kids of all ages with FREE Hot Wheels “drag races”

> The Rock Mountain showed the incredible scaling skills of RC trail machines

> Exciting, heads-up drag racing with Traxxas Funny Cars and the Radio Control Drag Racing League

> The Battle of the Builders airplane competition, featuring winner Lawrence Klingberg’s astounding 1/6-scale Curtiss Condor

> Super-scale drift track and drifting competition with SoCal’s Team Dori drift club

> Star cars including Knight Rider’s KITT, Steve McQueen’s Bullitt Mustang, the Starsky and Hutch Torino, and Herbie the Love Bug

> Wild 1/6-scale tanks and military machines from the Spearhead Armor Group
