Great Find! Guide Book to over 900 Aircraft Museums!

We have to admit it, the editors here at MAN love full-size aircraft almost as much as RC models. When ever we travel to a big RC event, we usually check out the old GPS for local points of interest and hit the “Museums” selection. Aircraft museums are across the country and make a great day trip for sure. But as scale modelers the world over know, Aviation museums are a treasure trove for excellent documentation. Photos of the actual airplane you are building can’t be beat when you want to get the details right.

Book

Recently we discovered a great 256 page, book that is a resource goldmine. “Guide to Over 900 Aircraft Museums” now in its 27th Edition, is the work of Author/publisher Michael A.  Blaugher and it covers just about every museum there is in the USA and Canada.

Ranging from the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) Aviation Museum in Muncie, IN and the to Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC, to the New England Air Museum in Connecticut and the Florida Air Museum in Lakeland, and everywhere in between, this handy reference book gives all the contact information for all the listed museums as well as a list of all the aircraft on display in their collections. Categorized by State, each page is easy to read and makes finding any specific type of plane, and its location a piece of cake.

This 6×9 inch, perfect softbound reference lists 857 Aircraft museums in the US and 69 in Canada, each listing includes the Name, Address, phone number, hours of operation, price of admission and other information regarding gift shops, websites and emails, as well as all the aircraft on display in each museum. The book includes in alphabetical order, 10,525 aircraft with City, State, and Museum location. Also included are the aircraft manufacturer, name, personal name, Serial (Buno) number, N-Number, Tail Letters, Side Numbers and Squadron Markings.

Priced at $18 plus $6 for shipping, we highly recommend this book for any serious scale modeler or aviation history lover.
