Workshop Build-Along – Part 7 – ArrowMaster Final Assembly

Coming up on the conclusion of our exclusive, Build-Along series on the ArrowMaster biplane from Alien Aircraft, Model Airplane News contributor Rick Bell add the finishing details to the airplane making it just about ready to finish and cover. Here’s what Rick has to say so far.

Ahh, there’s nothing like a model assembled without the covering. It’s one of my favorite parts of building a model, and the ArrowMaster is especially handsome! Too bad it needs to be covered! The only part not built yet are the “N” or interplane struts, I’ll build them on the model after it’s covered. This will allow me to set them up perfectly and to tweak the wing panels for incidence or remove any warps.

Using a Fuel Dot is a great way to fuel and defuel your tank, it just snaps into place.

To add some support and to have a clean look for the elevator and rudder pushrods, I used DuBro exit guides made just for the pushrods supplied in the kit. They are very easy to install.

To me, there are some airplanes that just don’t look completed without a set of wheel pants, the ArrowMaster is no exception. Here I have the recommended Fiberglass Specialties wheel pants. The plywood mounts are supplied in the kit.

After you determine the wheel pants position, the mount is epoxied in place, the slot is ground away and 4-40 blind nuts are installed. A very simple process.

Here’s a look at the inside of the pant.

Ready for some final sanding, clean up and covering. Stay tuned!

One thing is for sure, the ArrowMaster biplane has that retro, and classic sport look and it is designed and built to be lightweight yet durable.
