One of our most popular plans in the MAN library is the F-4 Phantom II designed by Dan Savage and finished in the classic “Blue Angles” Airshow Team scheme. This electric ducted fan looks like a scale jet but flies like a sport model. It uses traditional balsa, plywood and lite-ply construction and is intended for [...]
I’ve been waiting for a F86 Sabre EDF to come along that didn’t have a HUGE “out of scale”nose intake and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. Finally E-flite did it. Watching the performance of this model on the stock setup , I was finally satisfied. Having just finished a repaint, retract install and [...]
MAN Team Rich Uravitch and David Hart have been covering some of the most popularRC events there are and recently, they were on the flightline of Florida Jets. Held on Paradise Field in Lakeland Florida, this all Jet event is full of Turbine powered action and excitement. Here’s some of their photos of these amazingly [...]
Our friend across the pond Tbobborap1 captured more great footage at this year’s British Model Flying Association Nats, including this great Navy F9F Cougar. Built from an Airworld kit, this 85-inch turbine jet looks and flies great. We don’t know his last name, but builder/pilot Steve gets two thumbs up from us. Nicely done!
Rudolf Winter heavily modified a Fly Eagle kit to create this beautiful swing-wing F-14 Tomcat. Rudolf notes that he spent approximately 400 hours building the plane, and it shows! Weighing in at 77 pounds, the twin turbine jet looks like its full-scale brother in flight. Thanks to tbobborap1 for taking this video and sharing it [...]
Check out this gorgeous, 20-foot-span Avro Vulcan XH558! Built by Dave Johnson, the 1/7-scale model is powered by four (!) 160 turbines. The plane has sheeted wings with black Depron ribs, about which Dave notes, “The ribs essentially just keep the skins apart, and so [they] needed very little in the way of strength laterally. [...]
One of the most advanced spy planes used by the CIA was the mysterious SR-71 Blackbird and RC pilots around the world get very excited when one shows you at the flying field. This impressive example was flown at the Oberhausen Jet-Meet in Germany. The pilot and owner of this scale model is Lothar Heinrich [...]
