Top Gun this year was full of all sorts of surprizes and that holds true also for the First Place Winners in Team Scale. Glenn Torrance and Tom Kosewski took the top honors for their efforts with a beautifully detailed (and flown) Fokker D.VII. Tom flew the 1/3-scale WW1 German fighter extremely well and it [...]
As many of you know, I help out the annual Top Gun Scale Invitational in my duties as the Craftsmanship Judge. I have a unique point of view and get to see “all” the Expert, Team and Masters planes up close and personal! I can tell you that this year’s crop of aircraft was the highest quality yet. [...]
Congratulations to Dave Wigley for winning the title Mr. Top Gun! For the second year running, Dave has captured the Mr. Top Gun title! Flying his amazing Westland Wyvern S4, Dave’s flying skills are at the highest levels and his plane is simply amazing!
What more need be said?! Each of these multi-wing beauties looked and flew great! Above is the cockpit detail of the Glenn Torrance Models 1/3-scale Fokker D-VII that won 1st place in Team Scale. The ever present Dave Johnson is caught wrenching on his very successful Albatros D.V. Except for a less than perfect landing, Dave doing pretty good here at the Paradise Field version of Top Gun. Will be interesting to see where he places this year!

This team scale entry from Bret Bowling and Dan Givney put on a show during a practice round Friday. It’s powered by 4 Saito 100s and was built by a Wingspan Models kit and uses Robart retracts. It is a BEAUTY! I will get a sharper photo of this one tomorrow, but I couldn’t resist [...]
