.30-size ELECTRIC HELI

May 15, 2008 No Comments
Following Hirobo’s success with the XRB mini helicopter, Model Rectifier Corporation proudly introduces the first model of Hirobo’s all-new Lepton series of electric heli’s, the Lepton EX. The Lepton EX is noticeably bigger than any 400 size mini electric currently available on the market, yet smaller than a 30 size for easy transportation and will comfortably fly in just about any sports playing field area. And because it is electric, noise is not a factor. Also due to its larger size it is easier to see, easier to handle in windy conditions, more stable, yet still small enough to be flown indoors.

The Lepton EX comes with all option parts included such as carbon fiber single piece frame plates, CCPM 120 degree control system, aluminum swash plate, aluminum washout, Mini Sceadu Evo style aluminum rotor head, aluminum mixing arms, aluminum stabilizer control arms, aluminum tail case, Evo style tail pitch control, Evo style tail belt, a DTDS Tail drive system, one piece landing gear, and a full compliment of ball bearings for all drive components and levers. All metal option part pieces except the swash plate are anodized “Hirobo Blue” for the ultimate pride in ownership. The Lepton EX kit is the first of three versions to be released. The kit version does not include electronics. Just about any 890 KV out runner style motor with a 5mm output shaft will easily fit into the Lepton EX. A 4S 3000-3700mah LiPo battery with a 20C rating is suggested. For speed control, recommend a 60A-80A rated ESC with BEC capacity and a governor function. Additional power suggestions and options including a 3s power configuration will be listed at www.modelrectifier.com.

Specs: Kit #0304-903 Length: 837mm 32.95 inches Width: 144mm 5.67 inches Height: 281mm 11.06 inches Rotor Diameter: 955mm (37 in.) Comes with 425mm FRP symmetrical main blades Tail rotor diameter: 6.3 inches Recommended Rotor RPM’s: 1800-1900 for hover, 2600 for aerobatics Approximate flight times: 10 mins of fun flying, 6 minutes of all out slammin’ 3D. The P-38 “Lightning” is known for fast speed and dual engines! The folks at 2dogrc have found the perfect RC Version of this popular plane. Assembly is very easy with laser-cut parts that click together! The construction of the plane only requires hot glue! Assembly can be completed in 2 short nights after work! The wingspan measures 45″ with a fuselage length of 29″. Depending on your setup, flying weight is 15-21 oz. The control surfaces are the elevator and aileron, but modifying for rudder control is easy and will provide for a great 3D P-38! Our test pilot set this plane up with differential thrust and rudder and showed off torque rolls, inverted flight, hovering and knife edge loops INDOORS! Installation of the electronics is easy, 2 motors, 2 esc’s and 2 or 3 servos and you are done! This plane can be flown with either 2 motors on 1 7.4V pack or 2 motors with their own 3s pack. High-voltage battery analyzer

May 15, 2008 No Comments
If you have a need for high rate battery testing of up to 160 amps or 500 watts, amplifier accessory is a must-have upgrade to the West Mountain Radio CBA analyzer. This laboratory battery test system costs a fraction of comparable lab equipment. It features 500 watt continuous discharge rates with a CBA. Designed for commercial or industrial use. Test a Lithium cell at up to 120 amps / 500 watts. Test a Nickel cell at 160 amps regulated down to .9 volts. Test batteries at or near their limits. Test at 10X current with a CBA amplifier in between a CBA and your battery. Perform tests quickly at or near destructive limits; up to 500 watts or 160 amps maximum, whichever is higher! High voltage testing at up to 48 volts; the equivalent of 1 to 38 NiCad or NiMh cells. Test any type of battery: NiCad, NiMH, Lead Acid, Li Ion, Li Poly, Alkaline, Carbon Zinc, Mercury etc; from coin cell to automotive or larger. Superior constant current testing ,electronically regulated amplification, using an amplifed six FET electronic load. Automatic fan operation whenever current is sensed from the CBA with a cool down cycle. May be left in line and switched off for normal CBA operation at lower discharge rates. Supplied with copper bus 5/16 bronze bolt battery connections and plug in Powerpole CBA connector. Discharge current with amplifier on 10 to 160 Amps.

DESCRIPTION A CBA alone is all a hobbyist would need to determine more than they would ever need to know about batteries. Virtually any battery’s capacity may be measured and compared. A CBA may be used to measure internal resistance of a pack and with simple calculations determine what the battery will do at high currents without taking a chance of damaging a pack, however commercial users and battery suppliers may need to test at high discharge rates. The CBA amplifier is an add-on accessory for a CBA designed primarily for commercial users or that must test smaller batteries at or near the destructive limits. It also may be used for testing large lead acid batteries used in power backup applications and for FAA aircraft battery test requirements. Competition modelers may wish to have and amplifier for high rate testing but it is not needed for the average modeler. The amplifier is a very simple in concept. It is a DC amplifier that connects to a CBA and amplifies and regulates discharge current of the CBA times 10. It increases the 100 watt continuous capability of the CBA to 500 watts! It will allow testing of a single nickel cell at 160 amps and regulate that current all the way down to .9 volts. A single Lithium cell may be tested at 120 amps! In lab or production use you will find the ease of use is a big time saver compared to complicated and expensive test equipment. For more information, go to West Mountain Radio

From Hurricane Flight Systems

May 15, 2008 No Comments
Hurricane Flight Systems introduces a line of high-quality lithium polymer batteries in a range of capacities at 12C and 20C discharge rates. An open ventilated design with insulation board between the cells allows excellent cooling and prevents the transfer of any heat from one cell to a neighboring cell. Hurricane packs have a very high energy density which results in more power from a lightweight pack. All packs feature balance plugs and produce their actual listed mAh capacity.
