Cleaning the Workshop

Over the years I have built most of my planes in my garage.  Air conditioning was pretty easy as I just turned it on when I needed some relief, but heating was another story.  So now I am installing a new wood furnace to keep the garage warm day and night.  It seemed like a good idea at the time, but when the guys showed up to make the install I was asked to remove a cabinet that was full of RC stuff I have collected over the years.  I was really surprised at what I thought I needed to keep.  For example, the boxes from almost all the models I have built with nothing in them and for many, the plane has long since met its fate. Rolls of covering with a few inches left, a wing (only half), pieces of foam, radio boxes that I figured I would need if I ever had to ship one (never have), a box of broken props, empty packages of fittings and screws, my old Corsair still unfinished after 20 years,  stacks of empty engine boxes and the prize sets of turbine impellers for old ducted fans.

It is a work in progress and will require I let go of a few things, but in the end I will be better off for having tossed some items.  Of course memories are coming back as I explore this huge pile, but most are good ones.
