Clear Vision with Extreme Glare Sunglasses

Clear Vision with Extreme Glare Sunglasses

It happens all the time. Most of the planes I have lost or damaged were because I could not see them clearly. Sometimes you have to fly through the glare of the sun, or at the end of the day, the plane becomes a dark silhouette when flying far away from yourself. If you don’t have a good pair of sunglasses, your asking for trouble. If you do wear glasses all the time, clip-on shades from the gas station just don’t cut it when you want unobstructed view of your model airplane. You really do need a pair of prescription sunglasses. A great source for extremely good quality eyewear for your own prescription is Extreme Glare Sunglasses. I prefer the yellow tinted wrap around style. They kill the glare and also protect against dust and flying objects. I spoke with Owner Bruce Holden at a couple RC events and I noticed several pilots wearing his custom made shades.

Now that I have a pair, (frames By Bolle,) I can honestly say they make an amazing difference. Plus, Bruce uses your own information and his long experience in dealing with sunglasses allows him to produce a product that really fits perfectly and are extremely comfortable to wear. If you are looking for some relief from the glare of the sun, these are the sunglasses for you.

  1. Gary,

Thank you for your review. Could you please comment on what shade (medium/dark) you got in the rose glasses and how you have found it to be across a variety of lighting conditions? (e.g. I don’t have a frame of reference to know if “dark” would be great for a bright sunny day but too dark for a cloudy day, or if medium would be great for cloudy days but not enough when it’s bright sunlight, etc.)

Also, it’s not obvious from Extreme Glare’s website that you can order the combination you mentioned in the print version of this article (Bolle frames, gold mirror on rose lenses) as a standard item. Was it a special order?

  2. Crud, my apologies for calling you the wrong name. My fingers got ahead of my brain.
