Crazy Slope Aerobatics

Crazy Slope Aerobatics

Think gliders are, well, boring & technical? You’ll change your mind after watching this amazing YouTube video created by Jean-Marc Zuliani (jmzuliani on YouTube). This glider is equipped with a GoPro camera for a “from the cockpit” view and the aerobatics it does will blow your mind! The scenery alone was enough to make me want to head to the slopes.

If (like me!) you send links to your friends with fun RC videos, I hope you’ll add me to your address book: debrac@airage.com. Thanks!

  1. This is the ultimate slope gliding!
What a great demonstration of excellent flying skills and high-tech aircraft and equipment.
I would think there are also beautiful slopes in the west coast with the sea at your feet and steady on-shore wind….. I have flown in such a beautiful scenery in South America in the Peruvian coast.

  2. Absolutely fantastic. Have done some slope soaring in the
Davis Mountains of west Texas near Ft. Davis, Texas.
It was great, but nothing like this. My glider was a real drag
to the one shown in the video. The mountais were mole hills
compared to the ones in the video.

    WOW…………………………………………….WOW

  3. Debra – now that is a great video!!! Unlike the one you posted of the irresponsible person(s) in Europe flying close to buildings, people and such. Based on most of the comments posted for that video, most would enjoy seeing something like this……

  4. I am 80 Years old, still fly and build models. Since I live in Florida (No Hills, much less mountains), I have never done any slope flying. It was a pleasure to see this video with amazing flying and excellent photography.

    It certainly was not boring.

  5. From the seventies into the nineties I flew slope gliders in California on the Palos Verdes cliffs – yes there was incredible flying actually similar to the movie – but we had no grassy fields for landing, just very small spaces and usually filled with rocks. Oh, and out planes were not as perfect as that “movie star” plane. But the sloping sport was very popular and certainly was a delight for me!

  6. We have great slopes, fantastic lift, terrible landing areas. So decent aircraft are not seen at the coastal slopes. Inland is better, but I live at the coast and rocks put me off sloping. A great alternative is the Pawnee tugging a scale glider. But your video is great.

  7. Above comment from Port Elizabeth ,South Africa

  8. Great video! I would love to see a full description of the plane.

I am so lucky to live here in S. Calif. where I enjoy sloping along the beach only a mile from my home. We have a beautiful grassy park for landing and/or a large sandy beach below that is easy to get to. The Palos Verde clifs are not far either for some serious slopeing.

  9. And here’s some VTPR – “voltige tres pres du relief” (aerobatics close to the ground) from California 🙂

  10. Love the slope soaring video. Will have to look for similar in northern NSW, Australia

  11. Great aerobatics for sure. Gotta love working kinetic energy to the max with a favorite glider on the slope. Since putting on the very first VTPR meeting last summer the craze is catching on with new models being developed on a daily basis.
