Drone developers working with farmers to harvest grapes

This is a story that comes right out of my own backyard, well sort of, it is in California.  Developers at 3D Robotics are working with the Kunde Family Vineyards in Kenwood, CA to test a project using photos from drones in the sky that give on-demand aerial images of their farm.  These images allow the farmers to see the grapevines color variation, which can be used to help decide when is the best time to harvest.

While aerial imagery is not uncommon to farming, these small, autonomous aircraft could make it much easier and cheaper to use.
