Great read- “Lost in Shangri-La”

Looking for a great read that also involves aviation?  I can highly recommend “Lost in Shangri-La” by Mitchell Zuckoff.  The story is  set in New Guinea toward the end of WW II, and follows the survivors of a C-47 crash, their rescuers and the native people they both encounter. There’s enough aviation history to keep plane buffs happy, and this true story is  enthralling — I promise you won’t be able to put this book down. And without spoiling the ending, the way the group is finally rescued is so exciting and scary and just plain COOL that I’m amazed I never heard about this story before. It won’t be long before this one is made into a major motion picture — if it isn’t already in the works! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

  1. Hi Debra,
I have this book on order at our library and looking forward to reading it.. I heard this author interviewed by Bob Edwards on Public Radio and thought it sounded exciting. I know you like to read so if you haven’t read it already, another book you can’t put down (at least I couldn’t) is: “Airframe” by Michael Crichton. It is a mystery.
