Huge Honey Bee Homebuilt

Huge Honey Bee Homebuilt

This 19-foot-span giant is a scale reproduction of Walter Mooney’s Honey Bee, a homebuilt kit plane from the early ’50s. Built by Dave Horton, this model is powered by a 250cc gas engine and has the wing flaps and slots that the full-scale did. Flown here by John Greenfield at the Large Model Association’s meet in Tibenham in the UK and videotaped by Pete and Dean Coxon.  Great presentation of an unusual aircraft!

  1. Great bird! We would love to see some pictures of the build sequence!

  2. Think you should of added the other 44 per cent and flew it your self ? Nice job.

  3. Lovely plane. You should (and I,m sure you are) be very proud of it.The weather looked a bit overcast but it handled it very well. Congratulations to your pilot to.

  4. I agree it is a well built Model Airplane. A lot of planning and as a former license pilot, I think maybe when ( Mr Horton ) was building this plane. He must have thought it would be great to build the real plane, and fly it. I still think about flying again, I guess that’s why I play the lottery. I would wish that all the fellows across the big pond keep on building and flying.

  5. so beautiful looks like military observation plane
