Make a scale “metal” prop

Wouldn’t your scale plane look so much better on display with a scale metal propeller? Making your own is easier than you may think: you just need a damaged wooden prop and a few cardboard tubes. Let master modeler John Tanzer show you how to do it.

After building my giant-scale Top Flight Stinson SR-9 kit, I needed to make a static-scale Lycoming-Smith propeller. It had to be 21 inches long, and I wanted it to look like polished aluminum. I am so pleased with this method of making scale propellers that I just had to share it with other scale modelers. As you can see from the documetation photos below, the propeller has a unique shape.
