Road to Top Gun Update — Mark Frankel, Beechcraft T-34B

From Gladwyne PA, Mark Frankel will be entering Top Gun with John Glezellis (Cambridge MA) in Team Scale with his “tried and true” Beechcraft T-34B Mentor. The plane took 1st at the NATS in 2009 and 2nd in 2011). John is a world class IMAAC pilot, but this is his first major scale competition. I am certain that his superb airmanship will be a perfect complement to the T-34.

Mark designed the T-34 from Beechcraft production drawings. It is scaled to 25% of full size (1/4-scale). The wingspan is 98.5 inches, overall length is 77.75 inches, and the dry weight is 41lbs. The model is powered with a Zenoah GT-80 swinging a Zinger 22×12 prop, (the Zinger blade shape is almost perfectly scale in outline).
