Sneak Peek Video — Weekender Warbird Mustang from Hitec

We just got back from the flying field where we test flew an awesome mid-sized park flyer warbird. Part of the Hitec Weekender Warbird series, the new P-51 Mustang is a blast to fly. With a span just under 30 inches the P-51 has great flight performance and is a full-house 4-channel flyer.

With rudder control it has excellent tracking and it grooves nicely through all maneuvers. The WW Mustang takes only about 10 minutes to assemble and you can power it with a 7.4V 2S lipo pack from 850mAh to 1000mAh capacity. I flew the model with the Hitec Aurora 9X and 6-channel Minima 2.4GHz mini receiver. A great combo for this mini mustang warbird. Watch for a detailed flight report in the upcoming March issue of MAN.

  1. A 4-bladed prop is less efficient than a 2-bladed one. The real P-51 used a 4-bladed prop to absorb the energy from the engine while having a smaller diameter to clear the ground with “normal” sized landing gear. You said this plane does everything the real plane does: how about fire guns, drop bombs, lower flaps, and raise the gear. Aside from these inaccurate “marketing comments”, I bought one for my son for his birthday. The size, light wing loading, good looks and decent flying characteristics will do the job. — Aero Engineer, Fighter Pilot, and long time modeler.
