Big, mean flying machine!
The Top Flite Gold Edition Giant P-40 Warhawk ARF is an IMAA-legal replica of Colonel Claire Channault’s “Flying Tigers” squadron at the onset of World War II. The P-40 Warhawk had one of the most impressive kill-to-loss ratios of any Allied fighter plane and the Top Flite P-40 Warhawk is equally impressive. Because camouflage was the most popular P-40 trim scheme, it has been faithfully reproduced on this model using matte finish MonoKote® covering on the built-up balsa and ply sections with paint being used on the fiberglass parts. The Top Flite P-40 Warhawk ARF features many scale details not found on other giant-scale P-40’s: Features like a detailed cockpit with instrumentation and split flaps which are ribbed like the full-size P-40. In fact, the Top Flite Giant P-40 Warhawk is modeled after a restored full-size
P-40E owned and flown by Rudy Frasca of Frasca International in Urbana, Illinois.
- The fiberglass cowl captures the lines of the P-40 perfectly. The iconic “shark mouth” nose are is painted on and the exhaust ports are already installed. A scale-shaped, painted aluminum spinner is included.
- Heavy-duty fixed landing gear is included. For ultimate authenticity, optional Robart® retract gear can also be installed.
- The wings are reinforced to help withstand the impact of the landing gear during a less-than-perfect touchdown.
- Exceptional flight characteristics using affordable and easy-to-maintain 43-55 cc gasoline engines.
