Wing Repair Made Easy

Wing Repair Made Easy

This is a collection of my made at home videos I shot for showing basic wood wing structure repairs. The video may be low tech but the repair techniques are right on the spot and can be used to fix any damaged wing. This specific repair deals with removing and replacing a broken leading edge section.

Hope it helps you out with your damaged flyer.

The basic tools and supplies needed are: Balsa strip and sheet material, sandpaper with 150 to 220 grit, sharp hobby knife with replacement blades, and CA Glue. I use ZAP. For this repair, Thin and Medium Zap-a-Gap works great along with some Zip Kicker.

That’s it. This technique can be used for all sorts of repairs, just remember to bridge your damaged area, add internal reinforcement, and use filler to smooth the repair seams! Once recovered your repair will be all but invisible.
