I have to say, of all the people I’ve met during my involvement in Scale RC modeling, I have to give the title of best friend to my good RC flying buddy Sal Calvagna. We have shared a lot of airspace together and flown at many of the same warbird and fun fly events. We also have similar military experience and we were both in the USAF at the same time, though we never served together. We also both also have a soft spot for WW1 German aeroplanes, including Triplanes and Fokker D.VIIs. Here are a few pix that prove my point.
Sal’s 1/4-scale Fokker Triplane. Balsa USA kit and Zenoah G26
Sal preparing his quarter scale Balsa USA Fokker D.VII for another flight as caller Lou Cetrangelo looks on.
Smoke on!
My Arizona Model Aircrafters Fokker D.VII Sachs 3.2 power
My Hangar 9 Fokker D.VII with Saito .82 power
My Balsa USA 1/3-scale Fokker Triplane. Zenoah GT80 power
Another of Sal’s awesome WW2 hats! No it’s not German!
So if you see us at a local or regional fly in, don’t mess with my buddy Sal! We both have bomb drops and we know how to used them!!! :^)
