WW1 Dawn Patrol on Long Island

Some of the best RC modelers in the country have a soft spot for vintage WW1 aeroplanes. This year, was the second annual Dawn Patrol event hosted by the Long Island Sky Hawks club and a grand time was had by all. One thing that is very noticeable is that 1/3-scale is the new quarter scale. Where just a few years ago, the majority of “giant” models were 25% scale, nowadays 33% is just about the norm for both kit and scratch build airplanes. Here are a few photos from the flightline.
