Still a bunch of little details to get taken care of, but I think we will be ready for this weekend’s Dawn Patrol event on Long Island at the Sky Hawk’s amazing flying field. I even dusted off my leather flying helmet and goggles!
I just installed (reinstalled) the engine in the Fokker Triplane and secured the throttle linkage. Zenoah GT80 engine on Ziroli Soft-mounts.
Installed and finalized the elevator and rudder control linkages. Robart and Du-Bro hardware
Glued in all hinges and installed control linkages. Will have to replace one bent clevis for right aileron servo.
Finalized fuel system and hardware. All fittings and smoke mufflers from Slimline. Thanks for the support Bill.
Added the black rubber cockpit combing. Glued in place with Zap canopy glue. Glued all hinges in place with the same adhesive.
Tonight, will button up the radio gear, install a plywood plate in the canopy for the radio switch and engine kill switch.
Then, CHECK THE BALANCE POINT!
Stay Tuned!
I’ve been flying in Dawn Patrol events for a few years now and I think they are about as fun a
RC flying event you can go to.
The Dr-1 is looking good. I’m guessing 1/3 scale BUSA?
If you’re up for a road trip and you’re not doing anything the weekend of August 16-18, allow
me to recommend the Hoosier Dawn Patrol at Muncie, In.
Mike
Hey Mike. thanks for the comments. Yes, the Triplane is the new kit built Balsa USA 1/3-scale Fokker Triplane. I would love to come out the Muncie, but I will be flying the Triplane at the IMAA event in Kingston Ontario Canada that weekend! Maybe we can meet at the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome!? 🙂
