4-engine Handley Page takes flight

The Handley Page HP42 was a four-engine, long range biplane airliner built for Imperial Airwaves in the late ’20s. Only eight were ever built. This RC version, restored by Peter Bruce, is powered by four .52 4-strokes and looks majestic flying at a recent Large Model Association air show in RC Model Airshow in Rougham, UK. Thanks to tbobborap1 for taking this great video and posting it to YouTube.

In this video, builder Peter Bruce details the complete restoration of this RC project:

  1. very nice restoration,i like to see what other people are doing, i +get and re build airplanes as well, there is a lot of time and patience involved, but the end results is sometimes amazing.

  2. Hi folks, the flying shots and video from Rougham is of my model, not the one you describe, details of mine are here http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,59395.0.html Cheers, Ian Redshaw

  3. thanks a lot for your love of RC Aviation,a verry good story,Hugh Langston,Oklahoma

  4. Debra, the HP42 was actually completed by Ian Redshaw from an original build by Peter Neate. Ian has spent much time and effort completing this model to as true a scale as possible. The aircraft could have no better owner than Ian who has really given the aircraft soul.

  5. In addition to my other reply to the HP42 article. The correct details of the build and Ian the builder can be seen on RCMF forum under ‘Refurbs and Repairs’.

  6. the video you have is indeed from Rougham, but is of Ian Redshaws 1/8th scale HP42, originally built by Peter Neate some 20 years ago and recently restored by Ian, its 17 ft 6 inch span and is powered by 4 Zenoah 22,s

  7. Is he out of his mind spinning those props with a bare hand? Safety first!!!

  8. I should have said the article is about Peter Bruce’s HP42 model restoration whilst the HP42 model in the video is that of Ian Redshaw’s. I’m a bit of a dipstick for not pointing that out! See Ian’s link above.
