Build a simple Canopy Holder

Build a simple Canopy Holder

This past weekend I went to another great helicopter event put on by the SPAKS club in St. Petersburg, Florida.  It’s always a pleasure to visit their field because they always make everyone feel so welcome, but this time it proved even more enjoyable because I got to meet John Cook and his son Justin. Justin is an eight-year-old who flies like a pro with his Aline 550E and 700E, and it is just an all-around great young man.

Justin and his dad also made a very simple, but well needed, canopy holder for both the workshop and the flying field. I can’t believe I have not thought of this myself over the many years I have been in the hobby. It seems I’m always taking the canopy off to clean, inspect or make an adjustment and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had my canopy fall or blow off the table. This neat little canopy holder is made from very inexpensive PVC pipe and fittings available from your local hardware store. I’m going out later today or tomorrow to get my supply and build my own. I’ll let you know more about my project in the next few days. I’m sure this is going to be something you will want to have as well.
