Free Grumman Wildcat 3-Views

Willis Nye was a past master of the detailed three-view drawing. For nearly 40 years, he produced amazing pieces of artwork, many of them for Model Airplane News. Some of them go back to the 1930s. The detail, accuracy, and clarity are awe-inspiring. This time around, we’re posting his drawing of the Grumman F4F Wildcat, and the detail explained—both inside and outside of the aircraft—is staggering. Click here to download: GrummanWildcat

  1. The drawing is very beautiful, but you should credit the correct draftsman. According to the text in the drawing itself, Willis L. Nye drew this for Model Airplane News in November 1959.

  2. Did you read the description? That is exactly who is credited. What are you talking about?

  3. I’m going to be 59 in May (I’m not knocking the kids today with computer programs ) He is older than me But doing it from scratch with a pencil, eraser,French curve, etc. Unless you have done it from scratch it’s like buying a plane arf Vs. Building from scratch you don’t know what it feels like when you are finished. I give him higher than 5 stars!

  4. The Wild Cat drawing is amazing! Thank you! It says Sheet No. 2. What is on Sheet No. 1?? If you have it, please send to me.

More of these type drawings will be appreciated. Truly an art form that is not repeated with CAD type drawings.
