GForce Aerobatics: Full-size & RC Extra Team!

GForce Aerobatics: Full-size & RC Extra Team!

What’s better than two Extras putting on a formation airshow? A full-size Extra and a 41% RC model putting on an airshow together! The Extra Duo G-Force Aerobatics team of Mike Williams (RC pilot) and Chris Burkett (full-size pilot) perform at airshows around the world, flying Chris’ 300S and Mike’s Krill Aircraft 330SC, which is powered by a  175cc flat twin two-stroke MVVS gas engine. Mike notes, “One of the reasons I can do maneuvers like the harrier is because my Extra flies with a much lower wing loading than Chris’. This makes the 41% machine incredibly forgiving and allows me to prop-hang at between 30% and 50% throttle. Full power results in an impressive acceleration out of the prop-hang and vertical lines can be extended indefinitely or until out of sight.” Our thanks to father and son team Pete and Dean Coxon for taking this video at the Southern RC Model Show at the Headcorn Aerodrome in Kent, UK, and posting it on YouTube!

  1. Just freaking awesome!!! Who says R/C and full size can’t share the same airspace. My hat off to you guys. I hope to see y’all in the USA sometime soon

  2. R/C pilot needs lots of practice on his up lines!!!

  3. Debra; You hit another article out of the park! I was amazed watching ‘full size’ aircraft performing ‘model maneuvers’ at Oshkosh, now these folks have combined their talents, and what a show! Thank you.

  4. Great video, but Matt Chapman and Frank Noll have been doing this type of routine with their Cap 232’s for years. I saw them at Joe Nall a few years back and it was awesome.
