Model Airplane News has a contest to build interest in RC model building while giving its readers an excuse to get back in the workshop. I has been busy and have come up with several models based on the contest basic structure. Check out the MAN contest and see if you can come up with something truly unique. Deadline to submit your entry is January 1, 2014

Check out our latest work here.
Here is the basic low wing design with an added cabin section and the wing moved up on top to produce this Cessna inspired design. With trike gear and a Cessna 150-ish fin and rudder, it looks like it would make a great sport flyer or even a trainer.
Here’s the basic design the contest is based on.
If you haven’t started, there’s still time! Check out the rules and download the plans at: https://www.modelairplanenews.com/blog/2013/07/22/build-to-win-contest/
What are the plans for the high wing plane show at the top please.
Terry,
There are no “plans” specifically for the Cessna-ish looking model. It was done by modifying the basic “core” airplane used as the basis for the contest. So far, I’ve done four derivatives, all looking quite different but retaining the basic construction of the core model. The idea is for modelers to come up with their own “dream” model by making their own changes. Judging from the response, we expect a lot of guys going to come up with some pretty clever designs. Give it a try!
