Hobby-Lobby P-47 Thunderbolt

Hobby-Lobby P-47 Thunderbolt

Ready-to-Fly with 6-Ch. 2.4 GHz Radio, Retracts, Scale 4-Blade Prop

The P-47 was the heaviest US single-engine fighter of WWII and was built in greater quantities than any other. More than half a million combat sorties were flown in P-47’s between the years of 1943 and the end of the war in 1945. One of the first true multi-role fighters, the Jug was a fighter, bomber, dive-bomber and ground attack aircraft. The P-47 was also the first piston-powered fighter to exceed 500 mph.

41″ wingspan, 35″ long, 258 sq. in. wing area, 27 oz. flying weight. Nearly everything is included in the box. The only additional parts required are AA batteries for the included 2.4 GHz 6-channel radio system and a small amount of 5-minute epoxy for gluing the tail feathers in place. All pre-painted molded foam construction with the decals pre-installed and coated with a clear polyurethane spray for durability. The powerful outrunner brushless motor (1050Kv) has plenty of power to swing the scale 4-blade prop. The 25A speed control is pre-installed and connected using Genuine Deans Ultra connectors, as is the supplied 3-cell 1650 mAh Lipo flight battery.

Sturdy mechanical retracts are pre-installed in the wings and pre-connected to the retract servo. The gear legs have scale gear doors attached; tail wheel is steerable with rudder input. Includes a complete set of illustrated instructions with all control throws and CG information clearly presented. Tips on Lipo battery care and flying are included as well. After you charge the flight battery with the included 2-3 Cell Lipo charger, you are ready to fly.

The scale outline of the P-47 is accurately represented. Combined with the scale 4-bladed prop and the retracts, you have a great flying package that looks terrific on the ground, taxing out to the runway, or flying by with the gear up. The P-47 has solid flying manners with a very slow stall speed and predictable control response. The wide stance of the landing gear makes ground handling very solid and the steerable tail wheel keeps everything going in the proper direction. The big 4-bladed scale prop provides a lot of thrust; the smooth application of power is required for a scale take-off and a little power needs to carry into the landing for a smooth result. A great choice for the pilot with some aileron experience. Hobby Lobby stocks a full line of replacement parts.

The P-47 Thunderbolt is also available in an ARF version.
