  1. Hi John,

I loved the review of the Seagull Mew Gull in the July 2011 issue. I have wanted to model this aircraft for decades and now was my chance. However it is sacrilege to have an exposed engine in an aircraft with an in line cowl, so I had to relocate the engine mount on the firewall for an inverted installation. This meant putting the blind nuts into place in a very inaccessible situation.

What saved the day was that I used my magnet tool, I don’t know its correct name but it’s a magnet on an extendable rod for when you drop a screw or nut into any inaccessible place. I used the magnet to hold the blind nut while I engaged it with the machine screw. I then tightened the machine screw and it pulled the blind nut into position. Sounds like it would be too mobile but in fact worked a treat.

Thanks again for a great magazine and best regards,

    Peter Kraus

PS 2 criticisms of this beautiful ARF kit:
1; Firewall poorly fuelproofed and compartment behind it not at all. OK for electric but I’m using OS 120 FS. Sprayed in there as best I could with clear acrylic.
2: Correct thrustline very difficult to determine if using inverted engine. Got there in the end and plugged up all the holes, (for electric mount, for original slanted mount, and my mistakes,) with dowel.

  2. I do believe all of the ideas you have introduced in your post. They are very convincing and will certainly work. Still, the posts are very quick for starters. May you please extend them a little from next time? Thanks for the post.
