Sometimes things go wrong mid-flight, it happens to the best of us. Check out this great video of a very good-looking scale Hawker Sea Fury having a landing gear malfunction and the super save at the end. Nice piloting, Reima!

I’m of the opinion that scale means scale. A plane built to a specific scale should have and display all the appropriate characteristics. A 1:3 scale model of an F4U Corsair with a triple wasp engine that produces 2,000 hp, should have a radial engine with horsepower accurate to scale. It should require the correct scale length of runway for take off, aircraft weight, DNE speed, etc. Perhaps this is not always possible, but watching these rc planes leap off the runway, fly at ridiculous speed, and perform maneuvers unthinkable in the full size plane, diminishes the sport.
Then there’s the guy flying a B-29 doing four point rolls at scale speed of 600knots.
