News from the AMA Expo

We are back from attending the AMA Expo this weekend and we can say that we had a great time. Here are some snapshots we made over the weekend of some of the products that we thought were rather cool. If you didn’t attend this year, make plans for 2017 to be there.

  1. What are the latest FAA rulings

    1. Status quo. The AMA is now recommending that members take advantage of the $5 refund for registering before the deadline of January 19, 2016.

      1. The deadline is Feb. 19, 2016 and you mischaracterized the AMA position from what I’ve read in emails and Model Aviation. This issue deserved better, accurate coverage.

        1. We do our best to be as accurate as possible: this is copied from the FAA website:

How do I register my UAS?
It costs only $5 to register your UAS and the process is simple and web-based. Registration is free for the first 30 days. Some things you’ll need before you get started:
          An email address
          Credit or Debit card
Physical address and mailing address (if different from physical address)
Your registration is valid for three years. Once you receive a registration number, you can use it on all of your unmanned aircraft if they meet the online registration criteria. You must mark the registration number on all aircraft you own. Read about How to Label Your UAS (PDF).
Register before midnight EST, January 20th, 2016 and your $5 registration fee will be refunded!

          1. Can you post the web site to register my models? Thank You. Great job to all.

  2. It was a pleasure talking to you John.
