ParkZone Spitfire Mk. IX — Test Flight

ParkZone Spitfire Mk. IX — Test Flight

Wow! I just got back from the flying field and i have to tell ya, the new Spitfire from ParkZone is something else! it is a honest and very smooth flyer. it feels like a pattern ship and I loved it right from the moment it broke ground. Plenty of power, and a very nice roll rate. I used full rates on ailerons and medium rates on elevator. I also added the new E-flite retracts and maybe it’s just in my head, but I think they make the plane a better flyer! I flew it with both the fixed gear and the retracts and it just feels better with the gear sucked up into the wings! Here are some pix. Watch for the complete Flight test in the January 2012 issue of Electric Flight.

Battery compartment is in front of the cockpit. No need to remove the wing.

The E-flite retracts work great! Takes about 10 minutes to swap them for the fixed gear!
