FS-6.66 Flying Saucer: Designer and builder LaVerne must not mind the spotlight: this unique, 20-pound plane has a wing diameter of 66 inches and is just over 7 feet long! An Exceed Monster 160 motor, Castle Creations Ice 100 speed control, 20×10 APC prop and an 8-cell, 5800mAh LiPi provide the get-up-and-go (LaVerne notes, “Next season, it will be a 10-cell 8000mAh pack!”) The plane has elevon and rudder control surfaces, and LaVerne cut out its 600-plus parts out with a CNC machine called “PhlatPrinter.” It is a combination of Depron Foam, balsa and plywood and includes 270 ultra-bright LEDs.
