Dino DiGiorgio of Fort Pierce, FL., just let us know that he will be entering the Pro-Am Prop class with a Douglas SBD Dauntless that was his father’s. This Nick Ziroli design was started by Dino Sr. and was finished by Wayne Fussell. The SBD was built from an Aeroplane Works kit, and it has a 100-inch wingspan.
Power comes from a Zenoah GT80 twin-cylinder engine turning a Xoar 24×10 propeller. It is equipped with Spektrum servos and controlled by a Spektrum DX18 transmitter. Robart retracts with electric actuators from Down and Locked and Du-Bro wheels make up the landing gear for those smooth touchdowns Dino is known for.
Love this plane….
