Road to Top Gun — Rod Snyder — North American F-100D Super Sabre

For the 2015 Top Gun Scale Invitational Rod Snyder from Johnson City, TN will again be flying his North American F-100D in the Unlimited Class.

The model is a BVM design and is modeled after a paint scheme used by the SHAMA Service Engineering that was based at McCellan Air Force base located in Sacramento CA. in 1963. This unique paint scheme was used by the Air Force for testing of different avionics and radio gear.

The model is 1/7-scale and utilizes a Jet Cat 160 for power and a JR 12x for radio. The Model has all working functions including drag chute, opening canopy, operational slats, flaps, gear, wheel brakes, speed brakes. All the surfaces have simulated rivets and panel lines.

Rod competed with this aircraft in the 2013, U.S. Scale Masters winning first place in the Advanced category, and he earned 3rd  place in the Unlimited class at the 2014 Top Gun Competition.

He also has an Expert Class entry will his new 1/3rd scale, BAE Hawk, presented in the British Show Team Red Arrows paint scheme.
