Road to Top Gun — Tom Wood — Blue Angels F-18 Hornet

For this year’s Top Gun Scale Invitational, Tom Wood, a corporate pilot from Lakeland, FL  (shown with Hornet), is the builder of this impressive F-18 Hornet. Sandro Novelli from Canada will be the pilot for this entry in Team Class. Tom started with a Yellow Aircraft kit, (no longer available), and chose the classic US Navy “Blue Angels”  aerobatic flight demo team colors. Tom powers this beauty, which weighs in at 34 pounds, with a pair of KingTech turbine engines.Road to Top Gun -- Tom Wood -- Blue Angels F-18 Hornet

  1. NICE! Very nice. Always love to see the FA-18 modeled, in any livery, but to do the ‘Flite lead’ #1 aircraft, very cool! I sure want more pictures! I wish MAN would include detail shots of jets, showing the innards and how the various technicians set up their jets. Lots of ways to do this, would like to see how? Also some ideas on pertinent equipment, latest and greatest, that sort of thing. Good luck to ‘Tom’ at ‘Top Gun’.
