Scale “Samson” from the Avatar movie

Scale “Samson” from the Avatar movie

When Ralph Kayser saw the science fiction movie “Avatar,” he knew he had to try and build one of the high-tech aircraft that were featured in it. The result is this 33-inch-long Samson, which features Ralph homemade molded part and RC helicopter equipment. Ralph powers it with two Dymond AL 3530 motors on a 3S 2100mAh LiPo for 4-minute flight times. Don’t miss the video, and stay tuned for a detailed article on this fantastic flying creation! Thanks to German magazine Flugmodell und Technik for posting this great piece.

  16. You have taken the dream of every RC heli guy that saw Avatar and made it happen, Congratulations!!!

  17. Great looking clean lines on this prototype!
It would most likely take about $150K to machine the foam injection dies for the body so all you have to do is find investors to foot the high initial manufacturing costs, then gamble on it selling enough units to recover the initial investment. I hope someone takes a chance though as this is one slick looking aircraft to go along with a fantastic movie.
