Lots of fun can be had by flying with an FPV camera for aerial photography. Many of today’s Rotordrones come with FPV cameras but there are many inexpensive cameras available separately. Why not build an easy-to-fly RC airplane designed to carry one of these cameras? As the FPV technologies have developed and reasonably priced versions are now available with FPV goggles, I decided to update an older design and switched it to a pusher propeller configuration. The SkyEye can now accept a video camera in its nose. For the power system, I use a brushless outrunner motor and a 3-cell LiPo battery pack. And best of all, the plans are available from the Air Age Store Website.
It is very easy to see from the ground, and it could carry the additional weight of two cameras. Even without FPV cameras aboard, the SkyEye is a fun plane and can takeoff and land easily from any grass field. Here’s how I built it…
