With today’s amazing supply of top quality and reasonably priced radio equipment, equipping your airplane can be a relatively easy assignment. But you do need to know a few basics rules of the road. Here are some tips to get you off to a good start.
Before setting up your radio’s control functions, you have to properly setup your transmitter. Here’s what to do.
1. Fully charge your transmitter before turning it on.
2. Switch on the transmitter and enter the Model Type menu. Depending on your radio’s functions, you should select the appropriate type, Aircraft (Acro), Sailplane (Glider) or Helicopter (Heli.)
3. Once you have the proper Model Type, you should select one of your transmitters Model numbers. (Model1, for example.) Then you should go into the Model Name menu and enter a simple name to identify the settings for your model. Keep it simple. If you have more than one Piper Cub, use BigCub or LittleCub or ECub etc.
4. Once you have the model named, go into the Wing Type menu and select your appropriate setting. This is determined by the control functions you have and how many servos are used. Wing types include normal, Elevon (Delta wing) as well as Flaperon for Fun Fly airplanes.
5. If your transmitter has a Tail or Fuselage Type function then enter the menu and select the proper setup. You could have V-Tail,Normal(rudder / Elevator) or multiple servo setups.
6. Now switch on your receiver and check the servo control directions. If any of the control surfaces are backwards, use the Servo Reverse Menu to correct the control directions.

At the flying field:
When you first get to the flying field, it is important to switch on your radio gear in the proper sequence.
1. Pull throttle stick back to idle and otherwise disarm your electric powered motor system.
2. Turn the transmitter on and allow the radio to initialize until the home page screen appears.
3. Confirm that you have the proper model memory selected for the model you wish to fly.
4. Turn on your receiver power switch.
Always read the instructions for proper installation of your radio’s receiver antennas.
5. Test all the control functions. If control function is backwards or does not work properly, do not fly until you have corrected the situation. If you have selected a FailSafe function with your receiver, switch the transmitter off and confirm that it operates properly and the servos move to their designated positions. (throttle at idle and servos in their neutral positions.)
6. Do a range check with your model’s motor or engine running.
7. After a successful flight, bring the throttle back to idle to stop your electric motor, or with a kill-switch or throttle setting, shut off your model’s engine.
8. Switch off the receiver.
9. Switch off the transmitter.
Develop a routine and repeat this process until it becomes habit. Safety is the key to having a fun and enjoyable RC flight.
hi everyone my name is deryl drew rolle, but call me SPEED FRESH that futaba 8FG is alright for fun. but not better then then 18mz, the 18mz is way better is got a camera voice commands head phones music and telemetry the one tells you how fast you going how high u going and how teperature on there and rpms and everything thats what i want. all JR radios cant touch it. nomore little JR radios thats for kids. im not with a team JR nomore, im with a team futaba now. nomore little radios and nomore little screens. i play with big touch screens now, 14mz and 18mz thats for grown mens only and thats me SPEED FRESH THE NUMBER 5. remember if i break the speed record hitting 300mph on low speed pass inverted i win and that brand new 2012 futaba 18mzap is all mine and yall gonna see me with it. now yall better listin up im the fastest in houston now i run this show. i dont care what people says i will be the first one to get a 18mz 2.4ghz mode 2 helicopter radio or airplane radio and my another dream will come true again. i bend flying planes for almost 12 years now and i bend flying helicopters for 10 years. remember everybody you never win lets race ill beat the full size plane anyday. and nobody gos higher then me, i took my plane up to 4,000 feet last year in april 10/2010, yall never see my plane nomore because i go up in the clouds all over the place i got good eyes i see everything. i broke the record with my 14mz last year. and check me out on youtube.com speedfresh and it will come up. enjoy. ill be coming after my brand new 2012 futaba 18mz. i want my team futaba shirts black and orange i want 6 of them. if they said for me to join a team futaba noproblem ill do it. but i want to take it home with me. in jesus name we pray aman. lets all have fun together. my 14mz will be replace by 18mz.
tha futaba 8fg is not a touch screen the 14mz is a touch. but by the way 18mz is way better then 8fg, is better then JR 12x, better then spectrum DX8, better then a JR XP9503 and better then Futaba FG, and better then Futaba 12Z. you cant beat futaba nomore and thats me SPEED FRESH THE NUMBER 5 is one of them. think about yall can have a a better jet but im a better RC pilot and i lane better then all of you. you wanna race are you going to let the number 5 beat you because i will, and ima get $ 12,800 dollars caaaaaaaaaaasssssssssshhhhhhh.
