The Ultimate RC Scale Accessory: Static Scale Propellers

When it comes to scale RC planes, the biggest thing that ruins the scale looks of the plane is the “smaller than scale” flying propeller. Many warbird pilots will at least paint their props the correct color and add the yellow safety propeller tips, but if you really want to get maximum attention at the flying field, nothing beats a static scale (non-flying) propeller. Follow along as Gerry Yarrish builds and finishes a 3-blade, Hamilton Standard kit from Nick Ziroli Plans ( and adds a scratch-built propeller hub assembly for some added eye candy.

Gerry shows all the tips and techniques he used to produce this ultimate scale accessory that will be used with his upcoming Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair review plane.

From prepping the resin casted propeller blades to painting and apply scale decals, to the easy to do scale hub assembly details, you’ll learn all the tricks to make a great looking propeller to hang on your giant scale warbird.

Here’s the link for Gerry’s mulit-part build along series on the Model Airplane News website.
