Giant Scale F4U Corsair

Giant Scale F4U Corsair

While attending the Scale Squadron Warbirds & Classics, The RC Geek Chris Wolfe, shot some amazing video of this CARF Models F4U Corsair. This one featured not only a Moki 250 radial engine but also functional folding wings. It looked and flew amazing with its authentic Pacific Theater paint scheme.  Be sure to turn up the sound on this one!  This is one of the most authentic sounding Moki installs I’ve heard!

  1. Beautifully finished model. Remarkable weathering. My comment is regarding the folding wings become in the upright position while taxiing. This doesn’t happen. My uncle flew the F4U in the Pacific during WWII. Visibility over the cowl was not possible while on the ground. The pilot needed to zig-zag to see where he was going or have a wing rider to help him taxii. Having the wings raised would inhibit his visibility ever further. They waited until the plane was on the aircraft elevator before raising the wings. The never raised the wings if they were based on a land-based airfield.

  2. What a beautiful aircraft.Thanks
